OUR HENS

What do our hens feed on?

Hens in our farm feed on grains, fresh greens, herbs & others formulated in house to achieve a balanced healthy diet. Our feed is 100% natural and no animal by product is fed to our birds. Feed is free from antibiotics, hormones, toxic & synthetic supplements.

Do we use any forced molting methodologies on the hens?

There’s no forced molting allowed on our Good eggs farms. Plain and simple!

How do we keep our hens happy?

Providing the poultry birds with sufficient feed, water, shelter, health care and other facilities are very important for keeping them happy and productive. And all these activities right from producing the chicks and raising them carefully is called as ‘sustainable poultry farm management,’ which we follow!

Is the hen's feed chemical and preservative free?

Yes, in a consumer sense the hen's feed is chemical and preservative free. The best way we can explain this is to state what is in the feed, we would not class any of these as chemicals in that sense. Preservatives are not added to the hens feed.

Do we give Estrogen and other hormones to the chicken for egg production?

Never. We love our hens and value them as much as we respect our customers!

How are the hens protected from the predators?

Our sheds are EC protected and all the latest sensor technology takes care of the hens. Not even our employees have access to the sheds without proper gear.

OUR EGGS

What do hormone free and antibiotic free eggs mean?

No hormones are used to advance or increase the egg production & weight of the bird. While anti-biotic free means birds’ diet is free from non therapeutic anti-biotics.

How should I store eggs to keep them fresh?

Keep them refrigerated and only take them out about 30 minutes before you use them. Eggs can absorb flavors and odors so keep them in their cartons, pointed end down. And avoid washing them until they are ready to be used.

How are our yolks Amber colored?

Bright orange yolk eggs have a richer-tasting quality. The color of the yolk is all-natural and has a rich, creamy taste and are Carotenoid enriched.

How long do eggs last?

Our eggs have a perfect shelf life up to 30 days but as per government norms, we discard the eggs after 21 days.

Why does egg shell color vary and does egg quality vary with the color of the shell

Colour changes in egg shell are due to the pigments called porphyrins being deposited while the eggs are in the process of formation. The process of colour change holds relevance to the breed of a bird which means colour change is natural. Additionally, shell colour has nothing to do with egg quality, flavor, nutritive value, or cooking characteristics.

What are those spots in my egg? Are they safe to eat?

Yes. They are not harmful and do not affect the nutrition or usability of the egg.  You can simply remove the spots with a knife tip or leave them and use the eggs normally. Either way it's not a problem.

It can be caused by a minor blood vessel rupture on the yolk surface when the egg is being formed. This does not affect the health of the hen.

Are brown eggs better than white eggs?

There's actually no nutritional difference, it is simply down to the breed of hen. The shell is composed mainly of calcium carbonate, which is white. If the hen lays brown eggs, the natural pigments of the brown egg are added to the shell in the last hours of shell formation.

Are Omega 3 and 6 and the other nutrients destroyed by cooking?

All of our nutrients are fat soluble and the heat takes up only the fat, not nutrients. We have the best bio availability of nutrients in a natural way.

OUR FARMS

Do we offer farm tours?

No. We can’t risk the health of the hens by getting them in contact with anyone who might have had droppings of migratory birds accidentally on them or on their dresses and belongings.

How often do we inspect our farms?

The sheds are totally temperature controlled and are run by least human interaction possible to reduce human error. The feed mill is tested and checked multiple times a day. Sensors handle the feed and water control mechanism.

What do we do with the manure?

The manure in our farms is never allowed to pile up. It is collected and pumped out of the sheds and in turn is sent to the bio gas plant to utilize it in the form of energy in turn.

Do we have multiple farms?

We have farms in multiple locations around Hyderabad, each one carefully chosen and planned based on optimal locations, environmental conditions and qualifications of the farmers.

How do we collect the eggs?

Our eggs are collected from the nest boxes on automated matted belts – which carefully convey them to a central room in the environmental controlled sheds. It's very efficient and importantly results in much fewer breakages than if collected by hand.

A lot of effort both in financial & labor, goes to maintain our hens in the sensor controlled sheds. It’s evident on our strong, upright amber yolk!
